The New Craftsmen has started the New Year with a bang following the launch of our Christmas pop-up shop in Mayfair. In light of the fantastic response received from both customers and makers, we are keeping our doors open this month from Thursday to Saturday so pop in if you can.

What happened: Business was brisk during the month of December, as we welcomed close to 1000 visitors through our door, and gained recognition in The London Evening Standard, House and GardenGlass Magazine, Quintessentially and Selvedge among other publications.  Orders were shipped worldwide, from Texas to Hong Kong, while British craft makers from Orkney to Dorset were celebrated and recognized through their craft.

It was a great pleasure to interact with a variety of passionate and aesthetically driven people, and to have initiated a series of commissions including the much heralded ‘Brodgar’ Straw Back Chair – a contemporary take on the traditional Orkney Chair, realized by Kevin Gauld from Orkney and Dalston-based maker Gareth Neal.

We’d like to thank our event partners, who include AMD Interior Architecture, Balvenie Whisky, Fever-Tree Mixers, Grahams Hi Fi, Grosvenor Estates, Half Cousin, Hendricks Gin, Luchford APM, Nyetimber, Priscilla Carluccio, Reyka Vodka, and Susy Webb.
