Athletes Vessel II
Athletes Vessel II by ceramicist Charlotte McLeish is part of a collection of terracotta vases inspired by the figures and stories of ancient greek mythology and the traditional artefacts and pottery of that era. For this piece, Charlotte has taken inspiration from the stade or stadion, an ancient running race where athletes sprinted 192 meters. In the first 13 years of the Olympic Games (776 to 724 BC) it was the only event that took place, with the victor giving his name to the entire four-year Olympiad.
