Bain de Soleil by Aude Van Ryn belongs to a new set of sculptures which build upon Aude’s fascination with African art, particularly from West Africa, and the influence this had on 20th century artists. Each piece has been deliberately sculpted from terracotta and decorated with a select few glazes to achieve an animated, graphic effect.
Dimensions: Height: 30cm, Length: 19cm, Width: 7cm.
Care Instructions: Wipe with cloth.
Each sculpture is hand-built using grogged terracotta clay, which is fired at 1080°c, before it is decorated using underglaze and hand mixed lead based glazes. Often a small maquette is made before building the piece on a larger scale.
