'Made of Mayfair' Launches At London Design Festival 2014

View the ‘Made of Mayfair’ film here by Grosvenor Estates London.

The New Craftsmen define craftsmanship not only by the skills and beauty of the finished object but also the intellectual curiosity of the maker & how these inform their ideas & process.

‘Made of Mayfair’ is designed to showcase this intellectual curiosity & reinforce the process & work of our makers.

We invited our makers to take a guided walk through Mayfair. Our brief was for them to respond to its rich architecture, fascinating stories & artisan traditions.

Please join us for a walk through Mayfair this September & trace the steps of our makers with our expert tour guide, historian and founder of Fox & Squirrel: Penelope Sacarofou. Each walk concludes at the ‘Staircase to Somewhere’ on Duke Street, and offers a fascinating opportunity to peer into the minds of the makers. ‘Made of Mayfair’ will culminate in an exhibition of new work at our space in North Row in May 2015.

There are 5 walks taking place through London Design Festival. Each starts with an introduction to The New Craftsmen & The ‘Made of Mayfair’ project at our space on North Row where each participant will receive a copy of our limited edition typographic ‘Made of Mayfair’ map designed by Mr Smith before embarking on a two hour walk through Mayfair. The walk will end at ‘The Staircase To Somewhere’ – an atmospheric space inhabited by our makers & their work throughout the week.
