Thomas’s Cafe at Burberry
In 2016, The New Craftsmen and Burberry embarked on an unforgettable collaboration, Makers House, a completely immersive experience for over 40,000 visitors over 2-weeks that launched Burberry’s new collection under the creative leadership of the eponymous Christopher Bailey.
\nBased on the success of the project and the atmosphere and spirit that resulted from the mingling of these two brands, The New Craftsmen were delighted to partner with Burberry once again to transform Thomas’s cafe - two-storey hospitality space set at the heart of their flagship Regent Street store.
\nExtending the essence and spirit of Makers House, The New Craftsmen worked closely with the Burberry interiors and architecture team to develop the palette and function of the space - across materiality, finishes, colours - and bringing in makers of The New Craftsmen and like-minded ‘friends’ in the craft, antique and design world. The space was entirely refurbished in under four weeks, adding soul and warmth to the existing space through furniture, paint work, finishes, crafted details and exclusive product.
\nBlending both hospitality and retail, the space was defined to deliver different layers of experience and connectivity to the brand. Materiality, tone and texture acted as subtle signifiers - uniting the vibrant Cafe? on the ground floor with the private hire ‘sanctum’, a space for exclusive events and experiences.
