This showcase forms part of A Future Made – a three-year programme to expand the sales, profile and horizons of British craft makers internationally, funded by the Arts Councils of England & Wales with a selection of makers chosen by a panel of leading designers, journalists and tastemakers. The first presentation was a highly regarded Design Curio booth – Nature Lab – at Design Miami/ Basel in June 2016.

The residential setting overlooking South Beach offers the opportunity to showcase the best of British craft in a completely different way; illustrating how beautiful, hand made and tactile objects can transform a residential space and infuse it with personality and warmth.
Natalia Miyar – founder of Natalia Miyar Atelier – is Miami raised but London based, and her enthusiasm for British craft, coupled with a deep understanding of the market and cultural heartbeat of Miami made her an invaluable partner on this project.
The showcase will be accompanied a full program of events, engaging with diverse audiences across the design, art and real estate community. These will focus on stimulating conversation around process and materials – establishing true connectivity to the pieces and the makers behind them.

“The Miami art and design scene is modern, luxurious and highly discerning, so it is an exciting market to show the work of this exceptional group of makers. We hope that by presenting the work in a domestic context at the stunning 1 Hotel & Home South Beach, we can create a moment of calm and contemplation that clients and visitors will appreciate and remember.”

“I am truly excited at the prospect of bringing the best examples from British craftmakers to my hometown. It makes perfect sense to me to share this collection with the design-savvy Miami audience, it is an under-explored sector which I imagine will be extremely well received. Working with The New Craftsmen & the Crafts Council, we chose pieces that resonate with the Miami landscape in the hope that they will ’speak’ to people in a way that inspires the very best impression of these wonderful craft skills.”
