Product Story
Influenced by organic growth patterns and the ever-changing movement of water, this pair of stud earrings are made from individually hand-crafted granules of recycled 18-carat yellow gold, which cluster around 3mm brilliant-cut diamonds. They are typical of Hannah’s work, which explores the ever more complex ways to adjoin, layer and entwine surfaces.

Process
Each granule is hand-crafted on a charcoal block, before it is cleaned and carefully applied to the design. The earrings are made using 18-carat yellow gold, which is recycled in Hannah’s south London studio, and two brilliant-cut diamonds.

Process

South London-based jewellery designer Hannah Bedford specialises in the ancient technique of granulation – a process by which jewellery is adorned with fine granules of semi-precious metals. Influenced by the flow of water and organic forms, Hannah’s pieces have a molecular quality to them. Having studied at the School of Jewellery at Birmingham City University, she is a strong advocate of sustainable craft and many of her pieces are made from recycled gold and ethically certified diamonds.
