Dairy Jug (Large)

John Julian
Dairy Jug (Large) by John Julian, a large off-white, lipped jug with a glazed exterior.

Dairy Jug (Large) by John Julian. For his Classical range of porcelain tableware, Julian Sainsbury of John Julian Design developed his trademark unglazed pieces by taking inspiration from early English ceramics and pewterware. Julian's pared-down approach to form and function has resulted in an elegant piece inspired by traditional dairy jugs.

Channeling his training as a classical sculptor, Julian has imbued each piece with a sense of form and proportion, glazing both the interior and exterior to create a fully functional piece.
The Maker John Julian Ceramicist - South West England

John Julian creates porcelain kitchenware, serveware and tableware by hand in Wiltshire. Julian established his studio in 1999, first exhibiting at Egg in Kensington, London, where chef Nigel Slater bought one of Sainsbury’s iconic pestle and mortars. Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson soon followed. In 2013, frustrated with the restrictions of other manufacturers, John Julian set up his own workshop, enabling him to inject more character into each piece through the hand-crafted process.
