Drummer on a Horse Giclée Print (A2) is a large giclée print by artist Jo Waterhouse, inspired by British folklore and ritual. This piece depicts a drummer on horseback, with an instrument slung over her back. The original collage is made up of hand cut paper, with metal leaf and monoprinted elements. It is part of a series that draws us into enchanting worlds of stories and characters, both real and mystical. When displayed together, they make up a parade that spans many different places and scenarios. This is a limited edition of 15.

Each of Jo's original collages include a layering of different materials, tones and textures which are as fascinating as the scene they depict. Jo uses a treasure-trove of materials to build her pieces, including gold leaf, marbled paper and vintage sketchbooks unearthed in car boot sales. She hand-cuts a variety of papers to layer, adding her own painting and drawings too. Sometimes pieces follow a linear development, other times pictorial elements are borrowed from other pictures. Printed on archival quality parchment paper, giclée gives this print a beautiful finish that captures both the essence and vibrancy of the original collage.
The Maker Jo Waterhouse Illustrator - East of England

Jo Waterhouse is an illustrator and textile designer based in the town of Hitchin in East England. Jo studied at the Dartington College of Arts and originally worked in antiques before starting her illustrative practice. During this time she learnt about historic materials and designs - elements that have greatly influenced her work. Jo Waterhouse’s pieces draw heavily on her surroundings and British folk traditions. Her characterful illustrative are lush with patterns, textures and surprising details.
