Elm Piriform IV by Alexander de Vol is a naturally bark edged hollow vessel turned and carved by hand from the trunk log of a wild Elm Tree. The rim of this pear shaped vessel is shaped by organic bark formations on the surface of the tree. This piece is part of a series of minimalist forms in wood, highly influenced by the material itself. Each piece reveals the unpredictable nature of a once living organism, the surfaces serving as a unique biographical signature on the vessel.
