Ensemble XIII by Edmond Byrne forms part of the artist’s latest collection. Developed exclusively for The New Craftsmen, the Ensemble Collection explores sustainable practice in glass making by re-examining the making process and employing slower, low-energy methods. These pieces are constructed using glass fragments which have been collected and saved for over a decade. Each fragment represents a token of past work, and is carefully selected for its uniqueness of colour, shape, or patination. Painstaking work is involved to match-up, re-work and refine each fragment by hand. The finished decorative object is a focus for reflection and an exquisite product of a more sustainable way of making.
