Flower Cabinet
Martin Harvey
£14,990
Flower Cabinet by furniture maker, Martin Harvey, is a functional two door cabinet constructed in American black walnut with an inlaid pattern of European oak and maple flowers. Fascinated by the history of floral marquetry and blossom inlay, Martin experimented with many different flower combinations before landing on a Rudbeckia - inspired by those growing in his garden. The shaped aprons which line the cabinet base are reminiscent of petals, continuing the floral theme. The cabinet can also be commissioned in other wood finishes - please contact us for further details.

Process
The Flower Cabinet was made using a combination of both machine and hand techniques to form the hand-cut dovetailed drawers, mouldings, and a traditional mortise and tenon base construction. Martin has used inlay jigs and a handheld router to cut both the relief shapes and timber inlay of the delicate flower pattern.
