Glass Cylinder (Small) is a hand-blown collector's piece by glass maker Edmond Byrne. With a soft pale amber colour hue, this petite glass cylinder is finished on the exterior with a delicate china clay (Kaolin) patina.

The petite nature of this cylinder speaks to the immense technical difficulty inherent in its production, and to Edmond's skill as a glassblower. Intended to prompt an emotional response in the viewer, Edmond's large glass cylinder is formed using materials such as clay and fabric.

Edmond Byrne is an Irish glass blower producing artworks and vessels from mould blown glass. Taking influence from the work of renowned glass artist Geoffrey Baxter, Edmond has re-interpreted Geoffrey’s undulating, vibrant forms through his own innovative approach, blowing glass into hand-made moulds covered with a clay patina. Edmond Byrne’s work has received numerous awards including the Dan Klein Memorial Award in 2011 as well as being exhibited amongst several international collections.
