Grey Flower Round Plate (Small) is a vibrant, floral piece from a new collection by ceramicist Rachael Cocker.

This joyful new collection by Rachael Cocker celebrates English summers and seasonal flowers picked from the garden. Whilst making this collection she was inspired by the endless representation of flora in folk art, Bideford slipware harvest jugs and Winifred Nicholson's flower paintings. These various strands are brought together in an illustrative design with striking pattern, soft shapes and hints of chalky hues. The vibrancy of this collection was intended to fill a domestic interior with colour and pattern, bringing a sense of joy to the everyday.

Process

This piece was shaped by hand before being fired, carefully glazed and then fired one final time. It is decorated using slip to create Rachael’s signature bold, painterly floral decorations. Due to the hand-painted nature of the motifs, each plate may have slight differences in design.
