Barry’s ceramics are influenced by his drawings, sketches and paintings of nature. He works with strong, simple forms – often in series – exploring a particular theme thrown up by a place, a drawing or a memory.
The pieces Barry creates display a wide variety of texture and colour – from lightly applied subtle layers to vibrant splashes – giving his work a joyful feel. His thrown pots are manipulated into irregular, but simple shapes and are fired at low temperatures to enhance their colour.
