John Churchill Blacksmiths
John Churchill is a small firm of blacksmiths and ironworkers, who undertake a wide range of forged ironwork commissions, including lighting, latches and catches, gates, fires and flues, stairs and handrails, and signs and vanes.
John Churchill’s interest in iron started in 1978 when he enrolled as an apprentice welder in Clermont-Ferrand, a town in the Auvergne region of France. Read More
Deeply inspired by the rich architectural heritage & surviving vernacular ironwork there, John went on to work as a welder in Sudan, fascinated by the techniques of traditional African metalsmiths.
Back in the UK, John created his own forge at home, setting up a business in 1988 to forge traditional door and window furniture, as well as diverse ironwork commissions.
