An artist, designer and researcher, Katherine May's work is preoccupied with tracing the threads that weave together textiles and society, starting conversations about what it means to create something from raw materials. She runs a studio that focuses on material life cycles and acts of making. Read More
She specialises in quilt making and modern patchwork as well as plant-based dying.
Katherine often works with special textiles belonging to a client, creating meaningful pieces that tell the stories of places, people and culture. Katherine’s studio works across a vast range of materials and production methods, from growing plants to process into dye, to sorting through a textile recycling centre to find cloth.
Underpinning each project is research into how we extract from and interact with the material world, aiming to make positive changes for a sustainable future.
