Marlène is an experimental designer working for her own design studio based in London. She graduated from the MA Material Futures from Central St Martins in 2014 – during which time she developed the project ‘From Insects’. He work is an exploration of insect materials from the common honeybee and Indian silkworm.
Her work questions our way of making by challenging the properties of natural resources. Her vessels are made from propolis – a resinous substance collected by honeybees from tree buds – transformed through Venetian glass blowing and engraving techniques.
