Large Chestnut Vessel
Large Chestnut Vessel by Cornish woodturner Anthony Bryant is inspired by windswept woodlands and the beauty of found timber. This decorative piece is a unique reflection of the natural world. The inherent beauty of wood motivates Anthony to push his skills to new heights. Discovering the grain, and the way it affects the form of each piece, is central to his process. Working with fresh unseasoned wood is a journey of exploration, in which the surface reveals the story of the form. The chestnut from which this particular piece is made was brought to the attention of Anthony after a beautiful chestnut tree had been cut down from outside a local country house, as it was dangerously overhanging a gazebo. The tree was covered in wonderful burrs and features which Anthony knew would give incredible grain and interest to the wood within. His efforts were rewarded upon taking it back to his workshop where the beautiful grain was revealed and can now be marvelled at in the form of this one-of-a-kind, decorative vessel.
