Hand-woven by Joe Hogan, these nests represent our fundamental desire for shelter. Originally inspired by the poem Wild Geese by Mary Oliver, each array of whirling branches has been collected and composed with sculptural intent.
Joe has applied his deep understanding of materials and place into each piece, from the willow cultivated at his home in Ireland, to the local larch, birch and bog myrtle twigs from his neighbouring woodland. When making these pieces, Joe bends and swirls the twigs, often combining them with different types of moss. Each vessel is a unique piece of woven sculpture and is a collector's item in its own right.
