Plain Tile in Tenmoku

Froyle Tiles
£12
The Plain Tile is made with an honest coarse clay body, with traditional studio decorative techniques in a Tenmoku glaze. Single tiles are available to buy and can be mixed and matched to form multiple layouts and feature walls for interior use.

The Plain Tile was designed as part of the Studio Pottery Tile Collection, an exclusive new collection hand crafted and glazed by Froyle Tiles for The New Craftsmen. Hand cut, course clay sets a backdrop to transparent fluid glazes, the glaze pooling into the surface textures and undulations on the tile. No two tiles are ever the same, and they have a depth and richness to them which is unavailable by mechanised production methods.

Process

The hand-making of tiles is by definition a labour intensive process, as well as involving incredible skill. Each tile is extruded and hand cut, with the surface decorated using a range of specialist techniques and glazes.
