The Brodgar chair is the product of a collaboration between The New Craftsmen, Dalston-based furniture maker Gareth Neal, and traditional Orkney chair maker Kevin Gauld. Gareth travelled to Scotland to work on the design and materials with Kevin in order to to give a contemporary twist to this iconic piece of British furniture. It can be made with or without the traditional drawer that is fitted underneath.
About Kevin Gauld
Kevin Gauld is a furniture maker based on the Scottish island of Orkney. He produces individually made, traditional and contemporary furniture informed by local materials, tools and traditions from his workshop on Orkney.
About Gareth Neal
Gareth Neal is a Dalston-based furniture maker with a unique approach to design – through material inventiveness and curiosity, he has helped to shape a new era within the context of design and craft.
Gareth’s work ranges from individual pieces for the international collectors market, to bespoke commissions for private clients, as well as the design of production pieces for industry.
