- Product Details
Following in the footsteps of husband and wife team Charles and Ray Eames, artists-maker duo William Waterhouse and his partner Louisa Loakes collaborated to create this elegant daybed design. Made from cherry wood, and featuring in-lay details at the corners, it is upholstered using English black herringbone strapping, with steel legs.
The pair wanted to communicate a humble, informal and simple aesthetic, creating a day bed for the everyday. All of the textiles have been made by Louisa, who used linocut to hand block eye-catching and distinctive patterns.
About William Waterhouse
William Waterhouse trained in sculptor at Wimbledon School of Art; he now makes furniture and installation pieces from his studio in Peckham. William’s work is characterised by his use of movement and mechanisation. His work process is an exploration of materials, a constant curiosity for learning new skills and techniques. William’s design ethos is driven by a simplicity of idea, which resonates through his work in the notion of play.
William’s skill as a maker and craftsmen has made him a frequent collaborator with a variety of other studios, most notably with James Plumb. Most recently he has collaborated with his partner Louisa Loakes on a series of pieces exclusive to The New Craftsmen.
