    A set of internal weights allow for food to be pressed down, whilst the lid controls the release of air. This piece came into being following a conversation with a chef, who explained the change in texture that occurs during the pickling process.

    About Joe Hartley

    Joe is a Manchester-based “Butcher, Baker, Designer, Maker”, with an interest in exploring old and new materials and processes. Inspired by quotidian tasks, he makes objects with a precise function, resulting in purposeful and considered designs. Joe has experience of working in the food industry, which has informed his ability to create playful useable homewares. Sometimes he works alone, although he is also known as an active collaborator. In 2012 won the Best New Designer at New Designers.
