- Product Details
A round bellied, earthenware jug decorated with a glossy, iridescent green and honey slip. Richly coloured with a generous form, Douglas’ jug makes for a striking piece that can be used as a serving vessel or as a decorative centrepiece.
Taking inspiration from medieval pottery, Douglas applies traditional methods such as using the potter’s wheel and a wood fired kiln to create pieces celebrating British ceramic traditions.
Each one of Douglas’ jugs are thrown on the wheel and decorated with slip – a coloured liquid clay, before being placed in a wood fired kiln in a complex, time consuming firing process. Within the kiln, the piece is transformed by the flames, which create a variation of tone and colour across the vessel's surface.
