The Storyteller depicts an expressive Winter scene. The protagonist is a woman on a journey to regale tales; she is set against a dark and stormy sky, indicating the difficulty ahead. In crafting this piece Jo took inspiration from memories of her intrepid mother. Crafted using a variety of materials and techniques, the collage was assembled slowly, layer-by-layer to create a complex narrative. Part of the Hibernation series – a family of six paper collages exploring the rich tapestry of Winter. Each unique piece tells the story of homecoming, from long walks through the cold, to the comfort and warmth of the interior.
