White Lava Table Lamp (Tall) is a functional table lamp with a volcanic glaze crafted by ceramicist Alison Lousada. For this piece, Alison drew inspiration from her world travels, particularly the vast landscapes of Japan and Iceland. Her design is reminiscent of volcanic beaches and snow-capped mountains, and there’s a clear delineation of these environments throughout Alison’s work.
Volcanic slips are added underneath the glaze, which is then finished with blistered porcelain, rendering the surface of each lamp gently pot-holed and craggy, akin to lava. Each lamp is made to order; its distinctive design, and the unpredictable making process, means no two pieces are the same.
