Ravens & The Tower Vessel I
Ravens & The Tower Vessel I by ceramicist Charlotte McLeish is a hand-pinched terracotta piece depicting a fabled animal from London folklore, the raven. As the popular legend goes, these ominous birds are believed to protect the Tower of London and if they choose to desert then Britain will fall. This piece belongs to a collection of decorative works portraying scenes from stories and legends of old London. Charlotte has contemporised classical shapes and motifs by using modern ceramic techniques and her own playful storytelling.
