Ricasso Floor Lamp in Orange & Cream

Aimee Betts
£3,500
The Ricasso Floor Lamp check design in orange and cream is comprised of a solid brass base, which is bound with Aimee Betts's intricate, signature braiding technique using strong leather lacing.

Aimee's creative practice challenges textile thinking by applying her ideas onto unexpected three-dimensional forms. The Ricasso Floor Lamp is part of a wider collection of interior products and lighting that Aimee has developed in recent years, inspired by European Sword Handles on display at the Wallace Collection, London. In creating this collection, Aimee articulates both the decorative and functional possibilities of braiding and knotting techniques. This lamp comes with a pale linen 1.5m flex and white plug. If prefered, a dimmer can be added. International wiring is available, please enquire for further details. Shade not included, but bespoke shades can be ordered.

Process

For this lamp, the central braided design consists of multiple leather strands, which are hand-woven around a tubular base, a process described as ‘off-loom’ weaving. The woven structure naturally takes on a gentle twist as it pirouettes around the core.
