Roman Vase in Straw VI
Roman Vase in Straw VI by London-based glass artist Michael Ruh. A one-off piece that references the shape and form of Roman glass bottles unearthed in and around London. Glassblowing developed in the Syro-Palestinian region in the early first century B.C. and it is thought to have come to Rome after the area's annexation to the Roman world in 64 B.C. Here, Michael explores the expanded range of techniques that revolutionised the Italian glass industry. The latest additions to this wonderful series are rendered in subtle amber-straw hues or contrasting vibrant lemon yellow.
