PROJECT: Giant Planters by Daniel Reynolds
DATE: November 2017
Two over-sized planters were commissioned by interior design studio Smith & Butler for a private home in Antigua. The brief was to create a pair of striking pots that would be sympathetic to the local landscape with muted colours to complement the style of the room.
South London-based ceramicist Daniel Reynolds was commissioned to create the planters, including a sketch and glaze sampling stage. Daniel was well-suited to this project, with a portfolio of large hand-built pots and an acute sensitivity to detail, texture and volume.
In the gardens of this home are a plentitude of different types of palms and it was Daniel’s idea to use this as the inspiration for these planters. With Daniel's apt sense of form he was able to create these unique pieces which were palm inspired. They are a beautiful addition to this tropical home. Thank you to The New Craftsmen for facilitating their creation.
