PARTNER: Studio Ulanowski
PROJECT: Bespoke Light by Jochen Holz and Malgorzata Bany
DATE: September 2017
This bespoke light was commissioned by Architect Eryk Ulanowski for a private residential apartment overlooking Covent Garden. Whilst this was intended to be functional, it also acts as an artwork, occupying an alcove under the grand new electric blue staircase.
Glass artist Jochen Holz proposed a number of initial designs for neon light sculptures, with the client settling on an interplay of pink and blue.
Due to the additional request of the client to include a shelf under the stairs, it was proposed that artist Malgorzata Bany would create a custom jesmonite shelf in white to be integrated with the light.
TNC have an absolute love for their craft, each piece comes with a personal story; a journey to embark on with the craftsperson and the client. Go to their studio and question and explore every last detail of the project, and be introduced to the craft.
