St. Ishmael Rectangular Cushion in Dark Chocolate

Made with 100% British wool, St. Ishmael Rectangular Cushion in Dark Chocolate has been intricately knitted, then woven, to reimagine the geometric church floor of a small Welsh coastal chapel.

Drawing inspiration from the geometric tiled flooring of St Ishmael, a centuries-old Welsh chapel, The Good Shepherd uses fawn corded yarn to create an intricate pattern, adding another layer to the knitted dark chocolate fabric of her cushion. The fawn colour used in this collection is no longer available, making the colourway particularly special.

Using undyed yarns sourced from Shetland, this cushion is embellished with a detailed hand-woven lattice, achieved through holding multiple threads at the same time and weaving to build up the pattern. The fabric has then been felted, steamed, cut, and finally hand stitched into cushions. Each piece of fabric is scaled specifically for each cushion.
The Maker The Good Shepherd Textile Weaver - London

The Good Shepherd is a knitwear company founded in 2013 by RCA graduate Emily Watts. Specialising in hand knitted textiles, the brand creates intricately knitted cushions and throws imbued with a strong sense of British identity, rooted to culture, process and place. The Good Shepherd draws inspiration from the exposed, windswept landscape of the Shetland Islands, following a research trip to Shetland’s northernmost isles where much of Emily’s yarn is sourced.
