The Stags Waited Vessel
Jacqueline Leighton Boyce
The Stags Waited Vessel by Jacqueline Leighton Boyce forms part of a body work inspired by the changing of the seasons from a late ‘Indian Summer’ to Autumn, when the quality of light dims and colours fade. Finding beauty in the transition from season to season, Jacqueline’s illustrations represent the time of year when flowers begin to lose their radiance, petals and leaves fall from foliage leaving skeletal structures in their place, and bright berries appear for the birds. The piece is formed from red terracotta clay, handbuilt and illustrated with red deer stags, which have built their strength during the summer months and wait for the gruelling rutting season to start.
