Town Centre Ceramic Plate is a unique decorative piece by Alex Sickling. Hand-built using a press mould and white earthenware clay, this piece pays homage to the markets and tradesmen of the Victorian era. Working from sketches and vintage photos, Alex develops her ceramic pieces to fit into a narrative, adding depth and charm to the story.

Each piece is hand made with a press mould from white earthenware slip clay, then decorated with a cobalt blue underglaze, with a clear transparent glaze on top.
Alex Sickling is an illustrator and ceramicist based in Newcastle. She explores the process of image making through ceramic objects, creating both functional and decorative pieces, including plates and figurines. Known for her love of Staffordshire pottery, and her fascination with Victorian society, Alex has collaborated with clients such as Anthropologie, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and the Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield. She graduated from Leeds College of Art in 2012.
