Willow & Bark Frame Basket II

Maggie Smith
£350
Inspired by a fusion of elements, Willow & Bark Frame Basket II by Maggie Smith, combines a traditional Spanish split wood frame basket, with a Danish frame basket. Using her in-depth knowledge of weaving and available materials as inspiration, Maggie’s piece is handmade using thick bark strips to weave the shape of the vessel, with knitted bark sections to complete the form. A piece of exquisite craftsmanship, Maggie makes contemporary baskets as well as sculptural forms and large vessels. This particular piece is a one-off, created exclusively for The New Craftsmen.
