Willow Tray II
Willow Tray II by master basket-weaver Hilary Burns is made from a mixed variety of willow species to display a spectrum of tones and colours. Hilary grows numerous varieties of willow and ash at home in Devon and harvests, dries, and weaves the crop herself. Each item is exceptionally made, involving a slow and labour-intensive process. The pattern and structure in the base of this piece is created by alternating between two different weaving techniques known as randing and waling - with the latter technique creating the two raised ribs across the tray's base. Sturdy and functional, yet beautifully decorative, this unique piece is a modern classic that will stand the test of time.
