Jane Ponsford

Maker's story

Jane Ponsford is an artist and papermaker based in London and South East England. She works using repetitive processes, constructing sculptural forms made up of hundreds of near identical fragments to make sculpture and installations.

Jane makes each work entirely from scratch, creating special pulps from fibres including cotton and linen rag, as well as specialist Japanese fibres such as Lokta and Mitsumata. She also adds in traces of the local landscape such as chalk and clay as a direct response to place.
