Handled Lime Bowl (left) is a hand-carved bowl by Alex Walshaw using locally sourced woods. Each bowl has been carved with hand tools such as axes, gouges, a drawknife and apple shaves from green wood and then carefully dried before finally finishing. They are finally treated with an iron mordant and flamed and finished with a food safe oil and wax.
Alex Walshaw creates furniture and functional objects from storm fallen and reclaimed wood, and wood grown through coppicing, an ancient and sustainable method of woodland management. Walshaw combines fresh green wood and relic oak in his furniture designs, forming hybrids of the modern and ancient. (Bowls sold separately).
