Bricolage Quilts
Maker's Story
Based in County Down in Northern Ireland, Bricolage Quilts was established by Sinead Black. Combining Irish linens and hand-stitching, the small studio creates quilts that feel both traditional and contemporary, featuring geometric patterns and blocks of colour. Sinead studied Interior Design at Glasgow School of Art in and worked in commercial design for practices in the UK and in Australia, before moving into textiles.
Maker's Quote
“I hand stitch all the quilts, which is a long but satisfying process. I am drawn to the disciplines of traditional Irish embroidery where stitching is celebrated and becomes part of the design.”
The Process
Inspired by the colours of Northern Ireland and the country's textile heritage, the quilts are hand-stitched using locally woven linens, some of which are dyed using native Irish plants.
