Tim Plunkett
Maker's Story
Tim Plunkett is a woodturner who crafts boards and tableware from locally sourced British woods. Tim is motivated by the desire to produce simple, beautiful and practical pieces, which showcase the unique character of the timber. Learning through trial and error, Tim Plunkett turned professional in 1995 with the help of the Princes Trust. A few years later he was invited onto the ‘Register of Professional Turners’ held by the Worshipful Company of Turners – at the time, the youngest person to be accepted.
The Process
Unlike factory processes where timber is treated uniformly, Tim treats each piece individually celebrating the inherent characteristics of every piece. His objects are finished free from superfluous embellishment and are designed to withstand generations of use.
