Frog Cushion

Frog Cushion forms part of a distinctive and playful collection of textiles by artist Caitlin Hinshelwood, which combines both figurative and geometric forms alongside patterns influenced by folk quilts and kilim rugs. The frog depicted on the cushion was inspired by the flora and fauna that Caitlin encountered and recorded in her field notes taken during walks through fields and hedgerows.

Due to the nature of the hand dyeing process, variations in the depth of colour in the cushions will occur.

Each cushion is made using Fuji silk which is hand dyed by Caitlin, with special consideration being placed on the combination of contrasting colours. Her signature motifs are created with paper cut stencils before being transferred to a wool felt appliqué which is then hand cut and stitched. To finish, the front panels are carefully paired with French linen backing.
