A vessel suspended in a moment of transformation- Grant McCaig's "Palladium Hot" is a piece that explores the very nature of process and form. Inspired by Grant's research into metal casting, the piece is meant to capture the process of creation that would typically be lost in the final piece.
Material: Sand Cast Iron
Dimensions: Height: 17cm
Care Instructions: Do not clean, do not handle from the outside of the vessel as metal leaf is delicate
The intense glow of Palladium leaf, the coarse sand casted interior- each aspect of the vessel explores the origins of its form.
Scottish silversmith and metal artist Grant McCaig creates thoughtful pieces in forged metal. Using the traditional techniques of the silversmith, Grant’s work is an exploration in the power of objects- investigating the duality between decorative and functional forms, and the sense of place, time and history that objects can hold.
Grant has studied at Glasgow School of Art, and the Royal College of Art. His work is exhibited internationally – from The V&A, to museums in China, Russia and Japan.
